Just a few months ago I moved into a sorority house on my college campus. It’s been the most interesting, stressful, and fun experience I’ve ever had, and it’s only October! I still have many months left to live there. With greek life, living in the sorority house is always a big question. Some people just want to move off campus and live in an apartment next year, or just think living with 50 other girls would be too overwhelming. Here are my reasons why any girl in a sorority should consider living in their sorority house!

Being Around Your Best Friends All The Time
You don’t have to say goodbye to your best friends because they’re there with you all the time! I remember always being sad when I’d have to leave my sorority sisters, and there would be times I wouldn’t see them for a week or two. Living in the house, I see them all the time! Almost too much to the point where it’s hard to get any homework done, but it’s possible!
Make New Friends
Even though I’ve lived in the house for about a month, I’m still meeting new people! I have a very large chapter and pledge class so it’s hard to get to know everyone but I still meet new members in the house. During recruitment, I met girls in the chapter that I’d never talked to before and we’re getting closer every day.
Get More Involved
Living in the house has made me so much more involved in my chapter because almost all the activities are just right downstairs. I barely have to walk anywhere! Living in the house is so convenient because I hardly miss out on anything, I live where all the action happens! Also, you’re updated so frequently on all the other events happening on campus so it’s hard to miss anything when you’re contacted all the time.
Great Home Cooked Meals
When I lived in the dorms, there was no guarantee that I would like the dining hall food that day. Living in the house we have two amazing cooks Bart and Judy who make the most delicious meals. We’re seriously spoiled. It’s great cause I know I’ll like whatever we have for all three meals! Currently, my favorite meal would have to be mini tacos. They’re basically tacos but the size of your thumb, and they are AMAZING.
There’s Always Someone To Do Something With
Want to go to McDonalds at 3 AM? Most likely, there is a sister that would want to go with you. In August I was craving some ice cream at around 11 PM. I started to leave and found out several other sisters wanted to join me. So at 11:30 PM we were walking around Walmart in our pajamas looking for the ice cream section. If you live in the house and don’t want to do something alone, most likely someone will want to go with you!
Need To Borrow Something? Someone Probably Has It.
Girls in the house run out of stuff all the time, whether it’s printer paper, paper clips, a stapler. We have girls in our group chat ask for stuff all the time and someone always has what they need! Girls have asked for some weird things as well!
Closets and Closets To Choose From
Don’t have a dress for formal? Raid a sister’s closet! Everyone is always more than welcome to let you borrow something as long as you return it to its rightful state! You don’t even need to go shopping anymore!
An Emotional Support System
School and life sometimes get the best of me. Back to back tests and homework gets overwhelming and you just want to lay in bed all day and avoid it all. I have the most supportive sisters in the world, and living in the house gives me fifty-one girls to go to if I need something. Most anyone will take the time to listen to what’s on your mind. I had a political science test that was taking over my life. I was so stressed and was almost sure I was going to fail. My sisters were very supportive and helped me study, gave me notes, and even quizzed me on some terms. I ended up getting a 96% on the test, and I know I couldn’t have done it without them.
When you’re in a sorority, you’re bound to have a few classes with some sisters, meaning study groups! My roommate is in a ton of science and physics courses this semester and found out that another girl in the house was taking nearly all the same classes as her. Even if you don’t have other sisters in your classes, they’re bound to know someone who is and offer you the name of a tutor or they might even have some old study guides that they can give you.
