Being a college student, my days are never the same. I always have something different going on each night and I always seem to be going to bed at a different time. I felt like I was never getting anything done, and then in the morning, my life would still be a mess! Then I realized a specific set of tasks I could do to make my nights more beneficial for my mornings and get the most done, and I suggest you follow it! Here is the perfect night routine for college students!
Set An Alarm
The easiest thing to forget is to set your alarm for the next day. I’ve made a habit to always set my alarm for the morning right as I’m going to bed so I never forget. How bad would it be if you slept through an important test or class all because of an alarm malfunction? Pretty horrible. So why not make it a habit?
Check The Weather For Tomorrow
Since the weather is pretty unpredictable in Missouri, I always make sure to check the weather the night before so I can prepare for it in the morning. That way I know I’m bringing the right supplies to conquer, rain, snow, sleet, heat, chill, or shine.
Sometimes I’m just so tired I fall onto my bed and just go to sleep right there. No changing into PJs, washing my face, brushing my teeth, nothing. I find that I go to sleep and stay asleep so much easier when I feel clean and refreshed. It only takes a few minutes to clean yourself up so you can be your best in the morning!
Lay Out Clothes
I waste so much time every morning picking out my clothes every morning. Plus my roommates don’t like the noise I make doing it since I leave before every else sometimes. Picking out my clothes the night before saves me a good fifteen minutes in the morning, which is fifteen more minutes I can sleep!
I procrastinate a lot on my homework to the point where I’m finishing it ten minutes before I have to turn it in. That means I’m stressing the whole day about it and wasting valuable time during the day I could be using to get other things done. I’ve gotten better at getting my homework all done before I go to bed so that way my upcoming day is free!
Set A Bed Time
College students have the absolute worst sleeping schedule. Weekdays I wake up at a different time every day, but I’ve started to make a habit of going to sleep at the same time every night. Around 10:30-11 PM. By setting a bedtime your body starts to get into a rhythm as it gets more familiar so I know I’m getting a good night’s sleep.
Make A To-Do List
Sometimes I don’t get everything done that I should, but hey, I’m human. All these extra tasks I didn’t get done, I put on a to-do list for the next day. This sets my priorities straight and keeps me organized so I don’t forget what I have to do!
Pack Your Backpack
I’m the worst at putting my stuff away when I’m finished with it. I’ll usually wake up in a pile of books, and in a hurry, I’ll make it to class realizing I forgot to pack the right one. Every night, pack your backpack with everything you need for the next day so you aren’t scrambling to grab your stuff in the morning.
Listen To Music
Climbing into bed, listening to music helps me wind down for the night. I’m personally a fan of acoustic songs or something with no vocals. It really helps when I can’t seem to fall asleep or my mind is running at a thousand miles a minute for it to just chill out and calm down.
Write Down Your Goals
There are times where I forget what I’m going to college for and it seems to be getting overwhelmingly difficult. What always brings me back is writing down my goals and things I want to accomplish. Keeping a list like this is so motivating and I add to it every day! It gives you something to think about as you go to sleep. What can you accomplish?
