I had the most unproductive mornings the last few semesters of college because I could never find the will to get up or get anything done. Mornings are the best time to get things done and save you so much time in the long run. Try starting up these morning habits so you can make the most of your days in college!

Get Up Early
I always had a really hard time with my first semesters because all I wanted to do was sleep. I wasn’t managing my time wisely though. In the span of two hours I ended up staying in bed, I could’ve written half a paper, eaten breakfast, gotten dressed, or studied for an extra few hours. All that valuable morning time wasted! This semester I’ve been getting up around 7 AM even though I don’t have a class until 9 AM. This way I can spend an extra few minutes getting ready in the morning, and I have time to study a bit before my class. How could this time benefit you?
Open The Blinds
I have roommates who get to sleep a bit later than I do so I can’t really do this too often. Opening the blinds is a great way to let some light into your room and wake up your senses. That little extra light can trigger your body into thinking “Hey, it’s morning!” making it a little easier to wake up in the morning. I also like to look outside to see what everyone is wearing. Although I check the weather right before I go to bed for the following day, it’s also nice to see what everyone else is wearing so I can prepare.
Make Your Bed
Making your bed in the morning seems very tedious and super extra to do when you’re sleepy but it’s so beneficial. I know after a long day, it’s feels super nice to climb into a nice warm, already made bed. I’m a very interesting sleeper, so sometimes I’ll wake up with all the covers on the floor, pillow nowhere to be found. It sucks having to put my bed together at the end of the day, so why not do it in the morning! Plus it makes your room look so much nicer.

A great way to put some energy back in your body is to eat! Whether it be an elaborate meal such as bacon, eggs, and hash browns or just protein shake. I’m a fan of peanut butter toast or Nutella. Something that doesn’t take too long to prepare but has a bit of nutrition in it.
Make Your To-Do List For The Day
I have long days of classes so I like to unclutter my brain at the beginning of the day so I can conquer everything I have to do strategically. I’m a fan of using the notes section on my phone to make lists because I always know my phone goes everywhere I go. So I’m bound to always have it with me. I’ll write down whatever tests I have to study for, projects I have to complete, emails to send, blog posts to write. Seeing it somewhere not just in my brain helps me process my list better so I can better complete it.
Wear A Great Outfit
I wear pretty casual outfits to my classes, nothing super fancy, but on Mondays, I try my best to look nicer than normal. Personally for me, dressing up makes me feel a lot more confident in conquering my day, and looking my best just makes me feel awesome. The rest of the week I usually just wear leggings and t-shirts, but that one day a week I really try really makes a difference in how I feel and go about my day. So pick out your favorite outfit to wear or something comfy that makes you feel like you!
Get Ready For The Day
Woohoo, personal hygiene. After a long 8 hours in bed, it feels nice to just refresh yourself with a good hygiene routine. Taking a hot shower, washing your face, brushing your teeth, putting on makeup if you have the time and energy. My favorite part of that is putting on a really nice perfume. I love PINK perfumes so much and I find that the scent lasts pretty much all day so I don’t have to constantly keep re-applying it. I’m personally a fan of their Fresh and Clean scent.
Listen To Great Music
I found that music is just a really great way for me to get pumped up for the day, especially if I’m listening to some really energy filled songs, but I also love soft rock and acoustic stuff. I’ve been obsessed with these ones lately.
Perfect// Ed Sheeran
Lights Down Low// Max Schneider
Good Old Days// Macklemore & Kesha
Now Or Never// Halsey
That’s My Girl// Fifth Harmony
I Did Something Bad// Taylor Swift
Try making a morning playlist that you can listen to when you wake up to help get your mind going!
Prepare For Your Classes For The Day
Finally, before I leave, I start gathering everything I haven’t put in my backpack for my classes before I head out the door. Any books I may have left out or notebooks I shove into my bag. I also make sure that I have all my assignments for the day and I’m prepared for anything life can throw at me!
